Some users were reporting a zero balance on the DOT VALIDATION REPORT TWO under 5. Snow and Ice Removal (Functions 511 thru 519) for Totals from the Direct Labor Journal (LAB.dbf).

To correct this please go to your DWARE2 icon and choose 2. Download DWARE.EXE from the Web Server to Current Directory . If you have changed the DWARE2 icon properties for HWY12, right click on the icon and and left click on properties from the drop down menu , and change HWY12 to HWY11 for the Target and Startin choices.

After downloading Dware2.exe, please change the choices back to HWY12. …..max

D-Ware Maps The World! (or at least a little piece of it…)

We would like to announce that as of today, we are currently integrating a complete GIS MAPPING package into all of our product  line. This includes HWYNET, Sign Manager Pro and the Road Object Inventory System.

If you have an item or items located and stored in data, you will be able to print out an accurate GIS MAP with a few keystrokes. Users will be able to Print, Email and Save all created maps. Printing, saving and emailing formats include .jpg, .bmp, .png and .pdf and we will be working the maps into the printable worksheets and reporting systems in the coming weeks.

Now for the good news! THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL COST for our products due to the addition of our GIS MAPPING software!

Because of the amount of information, our newsletter has taken on a little different format this month. In December you will see another format with the blog. Many new changes.

Hoping each of you had a great October and looking forward to a wonderful fall and winter. Wishing each of you a great November as you do your preparations for Thanksgiving… doesn’t seem like it should be that time of year already.

Sign Management Boot Camp

In the coming months I will be offering a complete 3-day training seminar, Boot Camp if you will, on the implementation of a complete sign management system. Training topics will include the following:

1. Signs and the law.
2. Setting up and using Sign Manager Pro.
3. Setting up and using the RoadVista 922 Retroreflectometer. (Provided)
4. Hands on fieldwork to get your personnel started.
5. How to setup a signing vehicle.

My Sign Management Boot Camp, created specifically for the worker in the field, includes training for the signing supervisor as well. I have directed the supervisor training towards sign reporting using Sign Manager Pro. As with everything we do at D-Ware, phone and email technical support is ALWAYS FREE for Boot Camp clients just in case you need some tips after the fact.

I have set the fee for Sign Management Boot Camp at $900.00 plus expenses, which will include 30 hours of comprehensive, hands on training, a printed how to reference guide and FREE TECHNICAL SUPPORT.

Call me today to make your Boot Camp reservation – Ted 218-670-0518 ted.macy@signmgr.com.

At our annual meeting September 26 and 27 Ramkota in Pierre South Dakota, D-Ware, Inc. introduced our sign management work and research. After analyzing feedback and assessing needs of our current clients, Max Durgin, Jerry Durgin, and Ted Macy started development of a new Sign Management System that is independent of the current Cost Accounting System. The system utilizes current Microsoft development products and state of the art programming techniques. The name of the Sign Management System is “Sign Manager Pro.” Information on the Sign Manger Pro can soon be viewed at http://signmgr.com .

We introduced a preliminary version of Sign Manger Pro at D-Ware’s vendor display, October 26 and October 27 at the26th Regional Local Road Conference, Rapid City South Dakota. The product was demonstrated and critiqued by Kristi Goehring, our signing and sign retroreflectivity expert. Kristi will continue to work with us on program development. Sign Manger Pro was well received by the public with constructive comments and suggestions. Concerns were expressed on the process of “how to start and implement” a sign management system. To ease your fears and simplify implementation, D-Ware
has taken the following steps:

1. We created the Sign Manger Pro software, an easy to use standalone professional sign
management system.
2. We Studied the MUTCD requirements and consulted with a professional civil engineer to make sure we have collected all necessary data.
3. We created a Sign Management Boot Camp. Ted Macy, our new team member, will provide an onsite training package to assist in implementing a sign management program.

Renee Koller Railsback, Colorado LTAP director, reinforced the need for Sign Manager Pro in an excellent Sign Retro reflectivity presentation. Renee made it clear that MUTCD requirements were not going away. Reference was made to the website http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/. In the yellow box, a link will take the user to ‘PROPOSED REVISION OF THE 2009 MUTCD – COMPLIANCE DATES (TABLE I-20). The Table I-2, Target Compliance Dates established by the FHWA states “implementation and continued use of an assessment or management method that is designed to maintain regulatory and warning sign retroreflectivity at or above the established minimum levels” be in compliance 2 years from the effective date of this revision of the 2009 MUTCD.
